Hi

How about an list export feature? I find myself wanting to slice and dice the info on this site, at the moment grabbing the data requires scraping and messing about with xpath, while this isn't that hard given you have good classes on your html it would be much easier if it were available for export in a easily parseable format like xml or json. That said those formats may have limited utility for non programmers who may also like to manipulate the data in a spreadsheet so perhaps csv would be a good format.

I'm thinking along the lines of providing an optional get param to an existing list url specifying an alternative type, eg:

http://worldswithoutend.com/lists_classics_of_sf.asp?type=xml

or

http://worldswithoutend.com/profile.asp?id=73&list=read&type=json

or

http://worldswithoutend.com/books_hugo_index.asp?type=winners&forma...

if retrofitting different outputs is too difficult how about a dedicated api eg:

http://worldswithoutend.com/api.asp?award=hugo&type=winners

Its certainly a feature I would use.

Yes, an import/export list feature would be good - just joined worldwithoutend and having to reenter my book collection manually is going to be a pain. There doesn't seem to be a mention of import/export features anywhere. If you want to to help Goodreads users to migrate to here this would be a definite advantage.

Do agree.
That would be priceless.
Could help sharing your list with friends too.
Would ease any reading software (like calibre) helping you getting what you read or not. (sometimes it takes 50 pages to realize you already read it...).
Could work in both sense, and in sync, with a import list (from calibre, as it has star based appreciation too.)
