Location: UK | Had quite a good month on the reading front, despite the major deterioration in my near sight eye. Its covered with a cataract its like looking through a net curtain. I read with my long distance eye closed, and reading is getting harder by the day. I go for preliminary eye exam at a eye clinic on Tuesday, the op will probably be sometime this month, but with doctor strikes and 7 million patients waiting for operations who knows. lol.
I managed some enjoyable reads in August. I read no less than four of Simon R Green's fun Ishmael Jones books. Ishmael crashed a on earth, all the rest of his crew dying. Partially damaged machines transformed him into a human form, looking normal but with golden blood and he doesnt age,so stays looking like a 25 year old. He works for a mysterious Organization watching for alien encounters.
The books are sort of variations on locked room mysteries combined with lots of deaths like iAnd then there were none.just great light fun,a pleasant escape from real life pressures
I also reread Robert E Howard;s Pigeons from Hell, and one of Patricia Briggs popular Mercy Thompson series,Soul Taken. The series seems to be getting darker and starker than earlier books, not so much of the light heartedness of earlier books, but still enjoyable.
Also a couple of kindle unlimited books, just light fluff, stuff I read in the middle of the night.None are on any WWEnd lists lol.
I have only 5 more books to complete my Pick&Mix challenge. Just 40 books instead of my usual 80 books, but I have no likelihood of achieving my usual 80 books,so I'll stick to 40.Maybe I can review some of the books over the next few books. We'll see!
