After a break of twenty-plus years, I got back into the game

I just haven't been reading short stories since the 90s. Not only that, I haven't really read many new authors since then.

Who's around now? Who's exciting to read? What happened in sci-fi after cyberpunk? What's new?

I spent AGES working my way through this (like - two years or so), and loved it. It felt a bit like a party, getting back into the world of short stories.

And I made some great new discoveries (to me) in this collection. Most notably:

- Lavie Tidhar (looking forward to settling down with Central Station and getting lost in a big world)

- Jay Lake (currently having a ball with the Clockwork Earth trilogy)

- Nancy Kress (How had I not discovered her before!)
