This is blurbed as "Cabaret meets Le Carré", which didn't really grab me, until someone over on Dreamwidth reviewed it with great enthusiasm as Cabaret/Le Carré/Swordspoint, so I couldn't pass that up. And it's an excellent comparison, the main characters are fairly new lovers who aren't particularly good at communicating with each other (though one is a spy, and the other is a smuggler, so probably keeping mum is a good idea). It took me a while to figure out which was Alec and which was Richard, and if you like Kathy Blount, she's a main player too. There are lots of political shenanigans. I enjoyed this quite a bit, and apparently there will be two more books in the series

I don't usually do fancasts, but mine for this is Hayley Atwell, James D'Arcy, and Daveed Diggs.
