Well, its an epic project. You might be mildly disapppointed by the descriptions of technological advancement, they clearly are limited by the imagination of a person writing from the 1930s. But then its also an intended topic that humanity does not always develope forward, but actually will be stuck on primitive levels for aeons between the rise and fall of civlisations. The main advancements in this novel happen in terms of manipulation of man himself, through evolution, breeding and genetical engineering.

As a self-reflection you can take from this novel that no culture, no matter how high-developed, should see itself as absolute, because it is just one of many possible and still bound to eventual decline and the disability to answer the question what the meaning of life and universe are.
