Peter F. Hamilton's Commonwealth Saga wraps up with this one. (Or does it?). Seven big books with big concepts and three major story arcs. Overall, high space opera done very well. Not much "hard" SF, but still very believable.

I liked this last one best of all - although that may just be because I was invested in some of the major characters by then. OTOH, Hamilton's characters are a bit wooden at the start of the series; character development still isn't his strongest suite, but he's gotten much better.

I read Bujold's Vorkosigan Saga and Lee's Liaden Universe because I want to know what happens next in some character's life. I read Hamilton because I want to know what happens next to THE WHOLE GALAXY.
