Unlike its predecessor, The Three-Body Problem, this one wasn't nominated for a broad range of awards, and deservedly so. It didn't feel like a logical extension to me and didn't carry the same type of fascination. It somewhat deterred me, at least temporarily, from moving on to complete the trilogy with the third book. It was not bad, it just wasn't as good as the first book.
