The writing is good, the characters are realistic, the plot is compelling. However, this is not a separate book. It builds and builds, and then it ends. The ending is not even a cliffhanger, but feels like an end of an episode of a serial show. The whole half of the book regarding Naranpa could be removed from the book without changing the story. This way we have two separate novellas, with separate characters and story arcs.
I know that it will all be resolved in a subsequent book, but somehow, I don't feel that I will be continuing the series
