I really liked Book One, but barely made it through this entry. Most of humanity's actions when faced with the Trisolaris disaster looming 400 hundred years in the future was ridiculous. (Seriously, we can't even muster enough action for an existential threat 30 years from now.) Why would the UN put all their hope (and unrestricted power) in the hands of 4 people? and need to keep them alive for the future through hibernation. The whole "Wallfacer" plan and anti-Escapist sentiment made no sense whatsoever. It was silly and boring. I wanted to quit reading so many times, but held on to the hope that it would get better. Things picked up near the end with the Fleet Battle and the Dark Forest analogy, but still left me frustrated. I only finished the book to see what the main plot points were before moving on to the final book (in a desperate hope that it will be a better continuation from the 1st entry).
