A solid mystery plot with suitable twists and turns; Miles and compatriots visit "old" earth, London to be specific. Guessing the author spent a little time at the Thames tidal barrier for research :)

Finished the previous in the series (but not in the timeline) last year, and it felt like two stories put together. This novel is much more complete, with a good plot and foreshadowing. I confess I didn't guess the ultimate cause, and the story kept me on my toes. I liked the improvements in the relationship with Ivan - and of course with Elli Quinn.

Plenty of hints were dropped about the what happened recently, but apparently a short story collects the information. That story was published before this novel, and it is collected with two more in a volume published after this one - and probably my next read. Borders of Infinity (or is that The Borders of Infinity?) Another option would be Cetaganda.

Maybe on reflection some of these ratings will rise, but I feel like I haven't read a "5" story in the series yet.
