Although crazy, I think I enjoyed this novel even more than the legendary Dracula (which was influenced quite clearly by this novella). The length was much more manageable, the monologues much less excessive, and the repetitive nature of Dracula was almost completely bypassed in this novella. On top of all that, it was quite a revolutionary title because of the lesbian undertones that aren't so undertoney. I mean, it's just an enjoyable horror read. It's creepy and horrific, and beautifully written. I guess most of the characters are fairly bland, but Carmilla is interesting enough herself to mostly make up for it. I've heard some really good things about some of the movies; I'll definitely have to check some of them out. One of the better classics I've read.
