This is the first book I've read this year from an author I've already read, which is kind of crazy considering we're almost a third of the way through the year. This one had its ups and downs. It's a page turner. Dashner can write books that keep you entertained. This series is one of the "big three" as I've dubbed them, of dystopian YA famous series where children end up dying a whole lot (The Hunger Games and Divergent being the other two), and I think the Maze Runner series has some of the worst writing and also some of the most unbelievable plot of the three series. I read this series all the way through back in middle school, but I don't remember WICKED'S justification. All I can say now is it's portrayed as the pinocle of science, but it doesn't feel at all scientific; it has entertaining things that make the reader want to read more. When everything that happens to the Gladers feels like it's more to drive the book than to actually make sense, it's hard for me to feel immersed. Maybe I've forgotten the perfect explanation given in later books; we'll just have to see.
Read Primarily Because: 1 million ratings challenge; part of a series.
