I don't have a lot to say about this one. I liked it. I like the Jane Eyre references, the eerie sense on unease and displacement in a crumbling boarding school, the seances that are silly fun turned horrifying, and the tension between the girls as they grew into womanhood. I even liked the gory campy ending, but I'm left with a massive question mark floating about the burnt rotten corpse of the Briarley boarding school. I'll be keeping my eye on Curran's work though, she hit a lot of my favourite gothic horror notes with this one.
