Remarkably Bright Creatures

Though a few friends read this, I went into it more or less blind. Ended up liking it a lot. Talked with a friend and they said the movie was really good - didn't know about that either!

Solid characters, a decent mystery and a fun small-town atmosphere, apparently near Seattle. Okay, that last part is a bit unbelievable, but the rest is a really good read. Chapters jumped between characters, teasing out the entire story over time. Marcellus is a very enjoyable character also.

Towards the end, and not just because I couldn't put it down, the story rushed for me. Octopus segments decreased, existing only to move the story along. Minor quibble, but enough to fall short of 5 stars.

Remarkably Bright Creatures is the author's debut work, though she has written a few short stories. I look forward to reading more from Shelby Van Pelt in the future!
