Well, that was fun.

I thought it started out a bit shakily not because of the plot but the characterisation and I never got a handle on Briar Wilkes. She's too one-dimensional for me.

You can read the plotline in the synopsis and the other reviews so I'll be lazy and assume you've read them already. Basically, though as long as you don't expect nail-biting excitement, too much from the zombies or deepness of thought from the characters it's a bit of a romp around an alternate Seattle. It gets going better when Zeke strikes out underground so stick with it.

There's too much detail in some scenes and I was scanning pages. Some things happen with no explanation (such as the scene with Rudy and the Chinese guy) and I treated them as fillers - the author obviously needed a bit of action and stuck some in. So some evidence of sloppy writing and as I said the characters are either not developed enough or are just plain unbelieveable.

However, it's a fun book and I'll probably read the next one just to see what happens but I won't rush out and buy the next instalment.
