This is not my usual fare at all, but it was a welcome change of pace and I really enjoyed it.

Essentially, it's a paranormal romance - you can tell that by the way it ends on the romantic resolution not the plot resolution - set in a steampunkish Victorian London. Our heroine, Alexia, is a kind of anti-supernatural, due, we are told, to her lack of soul. Werewolves and vampires are integrated into society, but unknown vampires are turning up mysteriously at upper-class parties, and strays are going missing. Something is not right, and Alexia gets swept along with it.

This is the second of the three books I deferred from last year's WoGF, and the two I have read have both been very enjoyable. The pressure's on the last one.

I enjoyed the humour and the lightness of touch, and the story itself was eminently readable. I certainly wouldn't be averse to reading the rest of the series. I gave it 3.5/5.
