And so the mammoth Helliconia trilogy comes to an end. As endings go, it was a bit depressing. This third book was much grimmer than the preceding two, and did not end with an 'and they all lived happily ever after', but that's real life I suppose.

If you like a story about political intrigue, where empires rise and fall, which takes place on an alien planet, over a vast time scale - then this may be the trilogy for you.
