Not at all what I was expecting - much more postmodern, and the huge array of literary techniques was an impressive show by Smith. I was moved more than I thought I would be, particularly by the... well, actually, by all of the chapters/characters. Even Penny. I found the sister's chapter hard to get through only for the lack of punctuation or full stops, but that's a minor complaint for such a well-written book. Highly recommended!
