Meh.

I just couldn't get excited about the characters this time around. Even the big reveal of Ares's identity felt flat and not really consistent with the first book. Also, the whole will they/won't they plot, and the whole soul searching was a bit repetitive.

And the big "out-of-left-field" betrayal at the end was heavy-handedly hinted at throughout the book.

And the author does not like killing characters, yet he likes it when people die in battles.

That said, it was fun and fast to read, the battles were very nicely paced, and I will read the third part when it comes out.
