Wow, wow, wow. The premise and worldbuilding were absolutely unique (and now I want a prequel, detailing how it all came about!) The characterization was vivid and realistic, as was the romance (tinged with a bit a Stockholm Syndrome, true, but, still, not all that different from The Wrath and the Dawn.) The climax was, wow, unexpected! This book was everything I expected from the well-hyped Updraft, and didn't find there. Wow.
