When I think about Stephen King, I think about many-paged books, that are fast reads full of evil. I certainly don't think about a slow burn story, but I would be hard pressed to think of another word to describe this tale.

This was a reread for me, but since it was 20 plus years since I read it, I felt like was going at it with fresh eyes. This was a tragic story of the meaning of death, and mourning. Mr. King takes one of the mort horrible nightmares of any parent, the death of a small child and makes it even more terrible by showing a parents mourning being warped into something completely evil. The irony of this novel is up until the last 100 pages, there is very little of the "supernatural" and none of the horror. But when Mr. King does "release the horror hounds" he does it with aplomb.
