But changing the course of a war was not so simple. Harper's army was not prepared to win, and besieged in the pastoral hamlet of Midpassage, he was alone in his quest, deserted by his fellow agent, the telepath Kylene--who had stolen his time machine for a private mission of revenge.

Both Harper and Kylene had some lessons to learn about the perils and paradoxes of time tavel. And as Harper struggled to win a war he shouldn't have been fighting, and Kylene confronted the true meaning of love and loyalty, they could only hopw that death was not the final barrier it seemed...
