Random quote: "Belief in one's identity as a poet or writer prior to the acid test of publication is as naive and harmless as the youthful belief in one's immortality... and the inevitable disillusionment is just as painful." - Dan Simmons (Hyperion)

Hi all,

I failed this challenge last year, so I'm creating it to give it another shot.

Challenge page is here: https://worldswithoutend.com/rollyourown.asp?ryo_id=71

I'm not the person who created this challenge last year, so if it's a little different, it's because I don't remember exactly what the rules were.

If you've got any good resources for finding spec fic by authors of color, leave 'em in the comments. Suggestions for individual books or authors that you think other readers should check out are welcome as well.

I'll start: N. K. Jemisin is a bona fide genius; read her Inheritance Trilogy.

I think this is a worthy challenge. Accepted!

I'll start with THE GALAXY GAME by Karen Lord. I'll post this review both to my site and YouTube channel and announce the challenge when I begin.

I was hoping somebody would start this one up again!

For the banner I took the book cover to be a placeholder and updated the banner from last year and added it to your challenge page. If you want something different just let me know.

I'm glad you started this challenge too! But I'm loaded down with one hefty challenge (Tolkien), and I want to see how long that takes me before I jump on any others. I have 5 books by AOC on my shelf already: Boy, Snow, Bird by Helen Oyeyemi, Best of all Possible Worlds and The Galaxy Game by Karen Lord, and Nova and Stars in My Pocket.. by Samuel R Delaney. So once I get through Tolkien, I'll reevaluate then.

Thanks so much! It definitely was a placeholder; I wasn't quite sure what to do about the banner. The one you added looks great!
