This book can be entirely summed up by a quote from the movie: "Lyra, troublesome as Ever." Galen, in this novel, is completely emotionally absent, totally (and naively) focused on his research - the affectionate Papa who Jyn recalls so vividly doesn't exist here at all. This is the story of the battle between Orson Krennick's ambition and Lyra Erso's conscience, and determination to protect her family, and which I found surprisingly compelling. But if you're a Galen fan, there's not much there, and if you're a Jyn fan, you've probably already read her story in Rebel Rising.
