I did not plan to devour this in one sitting! But the apocalyptical element was so compelling (and so plausible, much like that in The Bone Clocks), and the characters so relatable. Words are spoken, actions are taken, in anger and fear and despair, and yet there's no Hallmark moment of magical reunion. This will stay with me for a long time.
