The Fireman was a very good, bestseller type of read, not particularly cerebral but a good, solid adventure. Hill certainly has his father's knack of writing suspenseful page-turners; I read the last 400 pages in just over two days. My only criticism is that it is reminiscent of other post-apocalyptic sagas like Earth Abides, Where the Sweet Birds Sang, The Walking Dead, etc. But it's tough to keep it fresh when you're in that realm, it's been done so many times before. However, Hill makes the story unique enough and the characters interesting enough that it keeps you involved and turning pages. Solid recommendation.
