I thought this novella was excellent, with some really interesting worldbuilding, especially the mechanism for time travel. The story switches back and forth from the present to the past, which can be a confusing technique, but I thought that it was well-done here. Character development is gradual, as we start to understand a little more about each of the main characters.

The exception to my enthusiasm is that I just couldn't buy the idea that their goal was going to save them -- but I guess that truly desperate people will grasp at the slightest chance for hope, if it's the only chance they've got.

Of the five 2019 novellas I've read thus far, this is the only one that I feel I can wholeheartedly recommend.
