King seems to have an ongoing fascination with young kids doing adult things. Something which is once again the case in The Institute and probably also the reason this novel reminds me quite of Ender's game.
It was overall enjoyable. Great start, slow middle, good ending, I just really wished it tied in with Firestarter.
That being said, it most likely did and I just missed it.
