Meh. There are better YA titles you can read, like Railsea by China Mieville. The world-building was ok, but the story was had little depth. I was going to give it one star but the ending pulled it up a little....just a little. The final secret was not that big of a deal and made little sense. The main thing that stood out to me was that the protagonist came across as a petulant, defiant child, constantly whining, asking stalling questions, blah-blah-blah. I get enough of that in real life, I don't need it in a fantasy book I read to escape. Maybe that was a function of the audiobook, but I think the perfomer did a decent job with the material given her. Two stars, I don't plan to read other books in the series.
