I like Neil Gaiman. I have read a crap load of your stuff and they have all been 4 star reads for me, but this one, not so much. Yes, this is a darker version then Disney's Sleeping Beauty. I will give Mr. Gaiman that. But guess what, so was the original, only way more, I mean way more. And if we were all being perfectly honest, chocolate pudding is darker and more sinister then a Disney princess.

I do not see anything wrong with Disney princesses. I grew up watching them and dreaming of being one. I still became a fully realized human being that managed to grow up, go to college, get a job, and support myself financially. "Backward and in heals." (bonus points if you know who this a quote from and about!) Yes, I know all the political rhetoric. But guess what, sometimes a pretty princess in a fluffy dress, is just a pretty princess in a fluffy dress.

Neil Gaiman wrote this in 2014, and he was trying to show he was socially conscious. There is female empowerment in The Sleeper and the Spindle. The prince is a queen, and she is Snow White. But frankly, who cares. This book was thin, thin in plot and interest.

Shame on you Neil Gaiman. You can and have done better
