This is a review for whole trilogy.

The Binti Trilogy is about the evolution of a girl and her people, and by the end of the series, the term "her people" encompasses so much more than it does when the story begins. Initially only being able to see herself through the eyes of her strict and insular Himba culture, Binti struggles with her identity as she is changed both mentally and physically by her experiences, forcing her to re-evaluate everything she has known and expand her world view.

I enjoyed exploring the Himba as presented by Okorafor and the themes of personal and cultural evolution, like Binti confronting her own bigotry, but the plot throughout was light. I realize that these are novellas and complaining about thin plotting may seem a little ridiculous given the format but in the end I think that maybe this trilogy might have worked better as a single novel with a little more fleshing out.
