Extremity has been on my to-read list since the day it was announced. I have been eating up the spec-fic murder mysteries lately and with Binge's history of writing excellent time-travel, I was excited for this book's potential. I wanted it to be a five-star read so bad.

Extremity is a fast-paced and easy to read sci-fi police procedural. It's a page-turner, the mystery is intriguing, and it hints at similarities to Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? but with its own twisted version. It was a fun, simple sci-fi but after reading his others, I know he can do so much more with time travel and this one was kind of surface level in comparison. I enjoyed it for the most part but it didn't have the same satisfying wrap-up as Ascension or Dissolution.

At the end of the day, I think this comes down to the story's size. This was really good for the first half. By the time we got to the 75% mark, I realised that we weren't going to get any answers and we were left with an ominous cliffhanger. The lack of a resolution would be forgiven if this was going to be a novella series, where we get more info as we go, but as a standalone, the ending lacks the punch of its predecessors.
