It's not often that I see a book with so many overwhelmingly positive reviews from my good friends here on Goodreads. A couple of them even go as far as to say that it's their favorite book or damn near close to it. I would have to mostly agree. I think it's the best coming-of-age novel I've ever read. I think, honestly, what stops me from giving it five stars is that I'm too young. I think it perfectly taps into a nostalgic feel that makes millennials swoon. On top of that, it reminds us of how whimsical and wonderful it is to be a kid. I'm just too young to really be missing that yet... give a few years. It has a powerful parental connection too, which is something that always makes me happy to see, probably because I can relate to it, and I think it's instrumental to a life I eventually want to lead for my kids. Cory's relationship with his dad is something truly special. McCammon nailed it. I also like the way that it almost feels like every chapter is its own little adventure while building to an extreme finish that leaves nothing to be desired. This one's well worth the read.

Read Primarily Because: Goodreads TBR.
