What is Murderbot? In this novella, comparison is made to ART, clearly an AI. The human angle for this cyborg seems confirmed, for now.
I enjoyed the story, and the partnership, and the mystery. There is a prequel novella in this series also, which might go into more detail. ComfortBot loomed like Checkov's gun, and one comes into play here also - it seems like there will be more.
This book is rated higher than the first book. Is that because the folks who didn't like it failed to read this one? I liked them about equally. The stories are different, revealing new aspects.
Books 3 and 4 were released the same year as book 2, and only a year after the first book. That said, my current inclination is to take a break, for now. We'll see.
