I really enjoyed reading this book. This is the third book I've read this year with an Edinburgh cop theme. The other two would be an Inspector Rebus book by Ian Rankin and Rule 34 by Charles Stross. I liked this book the best out of the three. Rankin's Rebus has a much darker past than the main character from the Night Sessions, Fergusen. Rule 34 is told with a lighter touch.

The Night Sessions follows the investigation of the murder of a priest. This catalist leads the characters down a winding path to a pretty wide ranging conspiracy. The novel deals with a near future in which religion is at a dont ask, don't tell stage following a holy war. Caught in the fallout and central to that are humanoid robots who were used in the war.

I thoroughly reccomend this book. I don't usually like books that deal with religious matters, but I thought MacLeod handled it well while also crafting a pretty good thriller.
