When I haven't anything new to read or I am just not in the mood for reading something heavy or involved; this seems to be the book I have been picking up lately. I find Ms. McMaster-Bujold's writings are always character studies and this is principally that. Containing her great insight in the human condition and how we all manage to live with ourselves. But even so, this is a very odd sort of book. On one hand pushing towards the romance genre, on the other pushing towards a social commentary on gender. And so wonderfully funny that it pulls this all together by being an enjoyable read.
