It was written as a diary and so it was challenging in terms of waiting for something to happen. A lot of it was just setting up for the final climax. I loved the narrator for the audiobook - she was great. a lot of the book was about just her opinion of books and how they form the backdrop of her life that was lovely.

Because it was written as a diary, the entires spoke of her life -which was, for the most part uneventful. But it was nice to see the slow unfolding of magic in her world and read about her relationships with the people around her, sci fi books, a reading group and how she was dealing with the aftermath of a magic war with her mother.

It flowed really well, though I can see how some may see it as slow at times because not much happened - and there was this whole weird part where her leg was in traction that made me question why it was in there at all.
