Ouroborous indeed! I enjoyed the story, and couldn't help wondering if the Red Dwarf episode was an homage to this.
As you can see on WorldsWithoutEnd, all of these stories are available to read online for free. I recommend you do so when possible - on average, this classic collection is easily above 4 star.
