Oh, it is such a relief to return to good writing, to an opening paragraph that just pulls you in and doesn't let you go! This was a wonderful experience, completely satisfying, well-written, engaging, thought provoking, with a plot that kept me guessing and characters I could cry over. And the way she plays with nuances of gender roles is just so delicious! This is a definite re-read!
