I really liked this book. It's one of my favourites from the 50s SF challenge.

It's a post-apocalyptic world, reverted to agriculture, and where technology is suppressed. There are rumours of a hidden town where technology still rules. Our hero, Len, is unhappy with the way the world is, and ultimately sets out to join the illicit technologists, only to find that things aren't all sweetness and light on their side of the fence, either.

I liked the idea that neither side was right. That if your character is to question the way things are, you're always going to do that, whether things change or not. It made the world feel real that the book didn't especially back either side.

And like all these 50s books, it didn't drag on.
