I have very mixed feelings about this book.

On the one hand, it was mostly boring. I couldn't identify with the characters, the setting, the catholicism, Earth society, the two-part plot. If it were not for the challenge I probably would have bounced off it.

On the other hand, that would have been a bad mistake. The basic conflict - good and evil, the snake in paradise, temptation, the Alien was very thought-provoking. An interesting juxtaposition between Ruiz-Sanchez' assessment of Lithia and later events. I might have to reread.

Recommended, with caveats.
