This well- written story drove me crazy. I started the story with questions, and ended the story with all the questions still hanging out there. It was obvious from the hints Deborah Coates dropped throughout the short story, that the protagonist, Beth, has had some kind of history killing "Things." The annoying problem was that these were mere hints. This short story feels like it is the middle of a series, but annoyingly, apparently it isn't. Now I'm left with all these questions just rolling around and around in my head.
