Brutal hyperbole

A brutal, hyperbolic depiction of the dehumanizing effects of modern living on the human psyche. Easier to swallow than the dark, uncomfortable, and potentially offensive HEART OF DARKNESS-esque THE DROWNED WORLD, but still a jagged, little pill. Still, there are more than a few moments of misogyny layered into the story, where rich, white women basically start all of the drama and mild-mannered rich, white men quietly go along until they evolve into horrendous beasts.
