The Bloody Chamber

This was my first encounter with Angela Carter, and overall it was a happy one. Her writing style is very good. And that is worth repeating, because her stories sometimes are not. The Bloody Chamber is a collection of modernized fairy tales. Placed together as they are, they often suffer from repetition. The collection begins and ends strongly; lags in the middle. The title story and "The Lady of the House of Love" highlight the collection. A worthwhile exploration and author I plan to revisit.
