This is not a rousing adventure, recounting in vivid detail the gods and monsters of Nordic mythology hurtling towards the end of days. It is not any way a fun-filled, feel good story. (You knew this, going in because this author is not known for those types of stories.) What this is is a quietly introspective tale of loss and growth and change, couched in the most exquisitely beautiful prose I've read in a very long time.
