A lot of people say that King can't write crime the way that he does horror. But I think that he writes well regardless of what genre he's in. I think that the action-packed endings to his thriller novels take away from the book trance I fall into with good authors that make me forget about everything for a while, because they are so incredibly hard to believe. But besides that, this is another novel that I can use to escape into another world, and King continues to deliver those types of books, which is why he is my favorite author. Peter was a great MC for this novel, and another character you feel strongly you wish you were more like as a teenager. (Or at least I do.) I didn't like this antagonist quite as much as Brady, but I really love Brady and can't wait for his return in the final installment of this series. I guess I don't have a whole lot of interesting things to say about this one, but nobody reads my reviews anyway, so it's not all that important lmao.
What would you do if you found $20,000 in a trunk under a tree? (Not much because of how high rent and gas are in 2026, lol.)
Primarily read because: part of a series.
