The book is generally considered a great anti-war novel and sci-fi classic...?

But I found it to be a complete waste of my time. Vonnegut's writing is crap. This is just 200-some odd pages of flight of ideas from a WWII veteran/POW with PTSD and has no structure, plot, characterization, or any redeeming quality at all. Perhaps I am the wrong generation or this kind of satire is just not my cup of tea, but I cannot understand at all how or why this novel is so highly regarded.

I understand the meaning Vonnegut is trying to portray through extreme satire -- the brutality and senselessness of war and violence. Unfortunately, the execution is pathetic. "So it goes" -- it goes nowhere.
