An engaging read at the beginning, telling the story of a family fractured by time and space from the effects of separation and time dilation. Also examined is the alienation of space travelers from their society by the effects of time dilation.

The fist two thirds of the novel delve well into the personal reactions and decisions the family make. As the story reaches the climax, too many events just happen and have ilttle justification, while other events to be expected are simply omitted to keep the story moving to the author's preferred end.

The story ends well enough, but the path to that ending is contrived and simplistic, with no real tension or drama, only a recitation of the events.
