Biography

Richard A. Lovett is a science writer, distance-running coach, and award-winning science fiction author. He has sold more than 50 science fiction stories, and written more than 3,000 newspaper and magazine articles for such publications as Nature, Science, Running Times, Travel & Leisure, Cosmos, Scientific American, and New Scientist. Much of his work has appeared in Analog Science Fiction & Fact magazine, where he is one of the top three all-time contributors and has won the magazine's Anlab (reader's choice) Award a record-breaking 10 times.

Lovett also coaches Portland, Oregon's 250-member Team Red Lizard, has written dozens of articles about racing, training, and health, and has coached several national champions, as well as three women in the 2012 and 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Marathon Trials.

He holds degrees in astrophysics, law, and economics, and was a law professor before he retired from academia to pursue full-time writing.
