Biography
I'm Associate Professor of English at the University of Maryland, College Park, and Humanities Editor at the *Los Angeles Review of Books*.
I wrote the literary history* Cool Characters: Irony and American Fiction* (Harvard University Press, 2016); the novel *Pop Apocalypse* (HarperPerennial, 2009); and co-edited (with Sam Cohen) the collection *The Legacy of David Foster Wallace* (University of Iowa Press, 2012).
I contributed a short story to the science fiction anthology *Hieroglyph: Stories and Visions for a Better Future* (HarperCollins, 2014), ed. Ed Finn and Kathryn Cramer, and am working on a variety of scholarly and creative projects.
I was born in New York City, spent a decade or so in the Bay Area, and currently live in Washington, DC.
